About Me

As most humans, I was born into a challenging environment. After experimenting with many unhealthy coping skills, I learned about psychotherapy in my late teens. Over time, I developed more positive, healthy coping skills, which transformed my life. I studied social work then, underwent supervision, licensure and finally… I was a wounded healer!

For over two decades, my work environment evolved. Community mental health was where I learned to help anyone who walked in the door (lot of night-time studying!). As director of domestic violence, I monitored a shelter while also counseling survivors one on one and in a group setting. Four years with hospice taught me a great deal about family interactions. Then, inpatient behavioral health setting helped hone my crisis intervention skills. And now, for nearly ten years, private practice grants complete focus on the most important part of therapy: you!

Experience psychotherapy with Julie!

We combine your expertise from your life experience with my clinical experience and education creating your goals, which guides treatment. We build on your current strengths, develop your vision and goals, and create a fulfilling life.

I tend to be a fairly active therapist; I listen carefully for what is important to you, offering new skills and perspectives. I provide handouts and homework. New insights and awareness then allow experimentation in your primary school: life! Over time and with consistent work, you create a fulfilling life tailored for your desires, values, and goals.

Thank you!
